Baby Olympia | Five Days New {Milton newborn baby photographer}

Oh, Miss Olympia…such a sweet baby girl. Like baby boy Everett, she wasn’t much interested in her debut session. Unlike Everett’s big sis, Olympia’s big sis wasn’t having any of the camera either, despite every trick her parents and I could muster.  That’s okay, she was uber-adorable in their family beach maternity session in May, so we’ll not make too much fuss.  There are simply no guarantees when working with babies or kids!  It’s all part of the challenge I love and the resulting images make every moment worth it.

I can’t wait to visit with the girls for Olympia’s six month session this winter.  It will be here before I know it!

Baby Everett | Five Days New {baby photographer Crestview}

I’ve been looking forward to meeting this little one since January! A month or two before he arrived, his momma told me he was going to arrive on a specific date…and not by planned c-section. Wouldn’t you know it, he sure did! Not quite sure how she managed to plan that one, but I’d love to know her secret.

He may have arrived according to plan, but he sure didn’t want his debut session to follow any plan we might have set.  But lots of nursing later, we finally got the shots we were after.  And can I just say I could work with his big sister anyday?!?! Seriously one of the most adorable kiddos I’ve had the pleasure to photograph – and she was such a willing model!

Welcome to the world, Baby Everett!

The Joseph Family | A Country Session {Crestview family photographer}

I don’t know that there’s any sweeter compliment than when clients return. I always hope to connect with the folks who I am lucky enough to work with and it’s definitely my goal to develop long-term relationships.

I first met the Joseph family last year when their youngest son was born.  He’s such a cutie!  I was definitely excited when his mom said she wanted to schedule a family session this spring.  Things got a bit hectic and it took us a while to finally find a date, but I am so happy we did.  They are such a fun family…and, let me tell ya, this piece of property they have had me in location overload.  I left the session with a dozen more shots I wish I could have had before the light gave out.  I sure hope they have me out there again! There’s a lot of country livin’ in this little corner of the world. Some of it’s not so pretty. But, sometimes, like this spot, it just makes your heart swoon a bit. (more…)

Brotherly Love | A Watercolor Session {santa rosa beach family photographer}

I recently had the priviledge of meeting a vacationing family from Indiana during their annual stay at the beautiful Watercolor Resort here on the Emerald Coast.  It’s always a lot of fun to work with folks who are here from out of town and there’s something very special about being invited to capture these special memories.

The weather here was anything but ideal last week, and the evening of this session was pretty gray and very humid.  These folks were real troopers!  I think it took me the entire drive home with the air conditioning cranked before I finally dried out.   (And I am so sorry to my clients who are subjected to sessions like this where I am a sweaty, frightening mess.)

At the end of the session I asked the two older of the four grandchildren, brothers, if they’d like to take one more.  They’d seemed to enjoy being in front of the camera.  I asked each of them “What’s your favorite thing about your brother?”  The older brother responded, in true older brother fashion, “that he’s younger!”  That got a good chuckle out of me.

Then the younger brother seemed to struggle with an answer, so I gave him a second and quietly asked again.  A few moments later, he just about knocked me over with this preciousness:

I think this endearing little moment will be forever etched in to my memory. Well done, little man. You are a gem!

The Powell Family | A Beach Session {Fort Walton Beach photographer family}

I adore all of the families I get to photograph. And I’ve been lucky enough to have a number of families return for updated family portraits, and the Powells are one of those families. Don’t tell anyone, but they are one of my favorite families to work with. Okay, I say that about almost all of my families, but this is the third time I’ve had them in front of my camera and each time is more fun than the last.  It’s a joy to watch their children grow and I can’t wait for their daughter’s 12-month session in a few weeks…not that I’m trying to rush it because I will be exceedingly sad to not see these folks every few months!
